Orgasmic Apple Delight

Hello Fulton's Pumpkin Pie Cream Liquer! Oh How I have been enjoying our 2 seasonal years together! Oh!!! WHAT IS THIS!!!! You've brought a friend along this year? Why Fulton....You've brought Apple Pie along with you? How utterly Delightful!!! Now if you don't mind I shall proceed to crack open Apple Pie and suck it down! Apple Pie...meet my cup of Coffee. Coffee meet your doom Apple Pie. -sounds of pouring- Oh sweet delicious heaven!

Yes my dears, it seriously is just as good as the Pumpkin Pie! I honestly can't pick which I like better! So for all of my Pumpkin haters out there. You need fear no Longer!!!! You can now enjoy this treat we have been enjoying for the past two seasonal years! Apple Pie has come along to dance upon your taste buds and make your tummy grumble in delight as it coats your throat going down! I do happen to enjoy my Fulton's straight from the bottle....in the middle of the night out of the fridge! naughty me! -winks-

It seriously does taste like apple pie though. They have managed to nail the flavor once again! So grab your favorite coffee, come in and see me, and grab a bottle of oragasmic deliciousness! teehee! Oh but wait!!!! Before you suck down that cup of Joe....er...I mean...Coffee. Look at the cookie recipe below! This will go hand in hand with this coffee...or Fulton's over ice! Happy sucking....I mean...swallowing...I mean....well...damn....Just enjoy the damn thing!

Orgasmic Apple Delight

2 cups flour, sifted
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp clove
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp allspice
1/2 cup butter (1 Stick)
1/2 cup Fulton's Apple Pie Cream Liquer
1 1/3 cups light brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup apple, finely chopped, (1 good sized medium apple)
1 cup caramel pieces

Sift together flour, salt, baking soda and spices.
Cream sugar and butter.
Add egg and mix well.
Stir in half of dry ingredients.
Add nuts, apples and caramel.
Mix in Fulton's Apple Pie cream liquer and rest of dry ingredients.
Drop by spoonfuls in greased silicon cupcake pan.
Bake at 400 degrees from 12 to 14 minutes.
Makes about 24 cookies.

So if you don't have a silicon cupcake pan...invest in one. lol!!!
Instead use wax paper in place of cupcake liners.
Or if you are using a cookie sheet use wax paper under it.

I use the cupcake holder because the cookies didn't stick together. Wax paper in place of silicon because of the caramel. It sticks to everthing and is awful to get off the pan! oh they also make silicone cupcake "papers" now as well. You can find them in stores and on amazon!

Happy Baking!

Firey Apple Butter

This is the time of year that I love to stay in the kitchen and just bake. I enjoy cooking...but there is something about baking that just makes me smile! Especially when I share said treats with everyone and see the smiles of happiness and the soft sounds of bliss! Mmmmmmmm! Teehee!

As we all know I love giving my baking deeds a lovely twist, squeeze, and half a bottle later of alcohol! Oh deliciousness! My newest escapade is apple butter! How did I add a twist to this lovely delight? Fireball Whiskey! Granted you can't taste the whiskey itself so much. That delightful cinnamon flavor of this liqueur shows its face though! It adds a depth to this butter that the lame watered down shit at the store can't even come close to touching! I use to buy apple butter. Not anymore! I will forever now on make my own! Especially since this is such an easy thing to do!

Enough of my jibber jabber! Onto the recipe!

I've been wanting to get back into canning for some time now. We've experimented with a few things. But, only having a bit of info doesn't help much. So when I came across a canning book at Target for less then $5.00 I grabbed it up in a heartbeat! It has all the basic info I need to begin my canning escapades!

Interested? Then hit the clearance rack at Target or go to Amazon!

Ball Blue Book Guide to Preserving

Using their recipe as a guide line I had some fun!

Firey Apple Butter

2lbs Apples (7-8 medium sized apples)
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup Fireball Whiskey (Or your favorite cinnamon alcohol!)
2 cups sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1 tsp Allspice

Wash, core, peel, cube your apples.
In a sauce pan place your apples, water, and whiskey. You will simmer the apples until they are soft. They will become dark in color, absorbing the water and whiskey entirely. They will gain a "transparent" look. You'll be able to use a silicon spatula to cute a piece in half.
Slide the apples into a food processor and pulse it until you have a consistency similar to apple sauce. You don't want to liquefy it!
Pour this mixture back into the pan you used earlier.
Add the sugar and spices!
Cook this slowly over a medium to low heat.
This will thicken the pulp.
As it thickens you want to continually stir it so it doesn't stick to the pan.
The smell is so delightful as it fills the kitchen with apples and cinnamon!
As the mixture reaches the gelling point.....what the hell is that you ask?
(I used the "Sheeting Test". Using a spoon dip it into the mixture and over a separate plate tipped it sideways to see how the butter would slide off. Following this awsome picture that came from said book above on page 29 you will make perfect butter!)

Once it hits that perfect gelling point transfer it into a glass container. Allow it cool a bit before spreading it over some delicious bread!

20131107_111105-1.jpg
I made two containers this size. Small 10oz Pyrex bowls.

My bestie Sara, who is vegan, looooooved this! As did my co-workers! I plan to make more of this as Christmas presents this year! Woohoo!

Happy Baking!

What Ales Ya Cupcakes! (Strawberry flavor!)

What Ales Ya Cupcakes!
1lb washed quatered large strawberries. (you really only need about 6 juicy large strawberries)
2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 sticks REAL butter
3/4 sugar
3/4 light brown sugar
2 large eggs

3/4 cup (6oz) Redd's Strawberry Ale
2 Tbls Lemoncello (or lemon juice) (2 shots of Lemoncello is more then enough. 100ml or 4 oz)
2 tsp vanilla extract

-Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
• In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, salt. Set aside.
• In a large bowl, using an electric mixer, cream the butter and sugars together. Add the eggs, beating well after each addition.
-Add the beer, lemoncello (or lemon juice), vanilla and beat until combined.
-Add the dry ingredients gradually and mix thoroughly.

-take your 6 large strawberries and half or quarter them. Depending on their size. You'll place one piece in each cup and pour batter to cover each one. You'll have leftover strawberries of course! What a great treat to enjoy while you wait for the cupcakes to bake!

-. Use cupcake papers! Bake for 20-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Or the cake has a little "bounce" when you light press your finger on! It depends upon your oven and what colored pan you are using.
Allow to cool.

While the little tasty cakes are baking. Pull together a super easy glaze. 1/2-1 cup of Confectioner's Sugar....also known as Powdered sugar.  1 Tablespoon Lemoncello (or lemon juice). Start off with the 1/2 cup of powdered sugar and tablespoon of Lemoncello. Adjust the ingredients until you have the consistency you are happy with. Making a glaze is really easy. You want it a touch more watery then an icing. but not overly so. Play around with it and see what you think!

After the cupcakes are cooled down pour a generous amount of the glaze over each cake before serving it. The cake will soak it right up! So if you are taking it anywhere wait until you arrive to pour it over. It still tastes delicious even after having the glaze on it overnight! So don't stress to much about it!

Happy Baking!

Angry Orchard

http://angryorchard.com/

hmm....what to say what to say.....

"mama always said if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all."

Then this would be a rather blank entry. But, onward we must go!

Dear Angry Orchard,
I am just not impressed. I must admit I have only tried two flavors so far. I have yet to try the original flavor...though I don't feel any real need to. People appear to LOVE your original flavor with a shot of fireball in it. No thank you. I prefer to keep my been and liqueur separate. I'd rather not find out what it would do to me. meh. I've already posted about the Ginger. eh...it was .....ok. I will say that you have come further along with your cinnful apple was much better. I guess I find them to be to....mellow...for my tastes. When I see something that says it has a flavor...I expect to be smacked in the face with flavor!!!! Not....oh....ummm....here I....am. Kinda attitude.

Now as I have mentioned I have yet to try the basic flavor. It's on my list to try. When I have nothing more interesting to try that is. As I have also mentioned.....it is a hot seller! So don't take my word for it! You might find a new favorite!

Hmm....about the actual cinnful apple.....it had a mellow cinnamon flavor. the cider was smooth. it was easy to drink. something I would drink if i didn't want the smack me in my face flavor...which happens occasionally.

-re-reads what she wrote-

Mama I wasn't mean.

Happy drinking!!!!
Dottie ^_^

Redd's

http://www.reddsapple.com/

-looks up at link. deliriously happy face-

When Redd's came out with their apple ale all I could think of was....this can't get any better! OH but wait!

IT DID!!!!!!

Redd's then came out with a STRAWBERRY ale!!!!

I had been off for my regular two days in a row. Oblivious to the little fact that something new and delicious was arriving at work! Then while ringing someone up...plop....a 6 pack of redd's....strawberry?! WHAAAAA! My eyes pop open....all I could say was...."whaaaa!" While pointing at it and looking around for boss man. "when did this happen!" To say the least gentlemen had to laugh at me. I was rather silly in my happy surprise.

So off I go to check it out! Then the -oh me so happy!- look crosses my face as not only a 6 pack is there but, lo and behold a 12 pack!!!!!! Now keep in my mind I've never tried this! Oh, but the excitement is there! So by the time I get off at closing that night I'm super excited to get home and try it out!

After the first crisp pop of the top....the delightful scent of a clean ale...enfolded into the scent is that of fresh strawberries. Memories of bright summer days, picking fresh strawberries and popping them straight into your mouth. The burst of fresh sweetness pouring down your throat as you devour one after another! This is what I'm reminded of every and each time I pop open a new bottle! The deliverance of flavor and crispness of taste is to be sought after in every bottle! They have gone beyond my expectation!

BRAVO REDD'S!!!!

I will say, I find that their apple is not as sweet as the strawberry. Which makes me happy and gives me a choice depending on my mood! Happy drink and stop by for your six or twelve pack! I'll be there!

Dottie ^_^

August where did you go?

WOW!!!! I just realized I haven't posted anything in all of August! What HAPPENED!!!!!

Allow me to fill you in!
My oldest, Marilyn Deville, Started Pre-K! I know right! She is how old again! You remember when I was pregnant with her! Where has the time gone! By the way.....she LOVES it! It was her sister, Madilyn Chevelle, and myself who had a hard time dealing with her not being there.  We went to Target for snacks! Then of course getting use to a whole new routine!

Then I decided I needed to de-junk my house.....wowzer. What an under taking! I'm actually working on getting rid of a lot of....stuff....you know..The ....stuff....that just accumulates everywhere. Yea that....stuff.....hehehe. I said.....stuff. lol!

-Looks up at the last paragraph and proceeds to facepalm self-
-sound of loud smacking-
"ouch."

Then of course I have all of my "helpers".

Be sure to keep an eye on my Tumblr for random pictures of the babies and dogs and kitties and ....well whatever else I decide to share! The link is at the top of the blog! No....you don't have to have an account to read it! Just go enjoy!

August was a busy month. September looks as if it will be just as busy! Getting ready for all the birthdays and holidays coming along! Egad! Oh the excitement though!

So, during this stretch of non-blogging I have been putting together evil evil plans! Plans that deal with mint brownies, candy, strawberry cake, graham crackers, and marshmallows! I've not had the time to make any of them yet.

-sad face-

I am putting together recipes and testing! I messed around with some cinnamon candy....and it flopped. It was a rather tasty flop...but a flop all the same.

So in conclusion my dear readers! I haven't forgotten you!

Hopefully soon I will have some tasty things for you!

-happy face!-

Til then happy baking/eating/drinking!

Beer Ice Cream

-Looks up at the title-
"You're kidding me right."
-Looks self right in the eye-
"Nope."
-Eyes light up with hope and joy!-
"It's a MIRACLE!!!!!"

hehehe.....It's true everyone! We now have delicious Beer ice cream! Who would have thought! Now the next question you are going to ask me....is it any good? This is where I look at you and say..."duh. of course! It's beer!"

After I tried my first taste of one...I turned to my boss and asked him with a straight face, "It's not technically drinking on the job you know...so can I eat it while at work?" I never got a reply! Damn. Hahahaha!

So what flavors did they make for us ice cream lovers!

Vanilla Bock- My personal Top favorite! Think of the creamiest smoothiest vanilla ice cream you ever had! Now Add in the most flavorful Vanilla Porter you've tasted. They have managed to blend these two to perfection! This is also the highest alc/vol. of these flavors.

IPA Honey- I am NOT an IPA drinker. I don't care for it at all. This is actually my second favorite! The honey flavor and the hops flavor balance each other out without overwhelming each other....or my tastebuds! They farther to bring out the best of each flavor in the best way! I really almost didn't give my friend back his pint of ice cream when I tried this one!

Brown Ale Chip- OH Dearest chocolate chips! How I love thee! How thou dost melt upon the heat of my moist wet tongue! To spread thy flavor throughout my mouth and blend perfectly with the flavor of thy soul mate ale! Neither to sweet nor not sweet enough! Oh ale how thou hast tease me! Spreading thy flavor through yon pint of cream, instead of quenching the dry thirst that clenches my throat! I shall devour thee both! For thy infedilty to me! Destroy and devour....until....oh saddness!!!!!! The pint....tis...empty.

Peach Lambic-Now the lambic is low on my list for a reason. I was expecting a PEACH flavor! It was still great. Not the same as opening up a bottle of Lambic Peach though! I would definitely add some fresh peaches or even canned peaches to this lovely tub of cream! Then you will be hitting the flavor right on the mark!

Malted Milk Chocolate Stout- You know that great bitter ending of a delicious stout? Well, they NAILED it with this frozen pint! I'm not crazy about stouts. But, I devoured my entire pint of this in one night...in one sitting. It was delicious! This was the least sweet of all of them. True the stout! The flavor ride was amazing though! Creamy chocolate melting into the delightful full body of a thick stout....ending with that perfect bitter note! Oh happiness! This is last on my list though. But, not loved the least for it!

Come in and see me! I'm looking forward to when the other two flavors will be available! I'm thinking they may be a seasonal thing! OH and before I forget! Here is their site!

Happy Drunken Eating!!!
Dottie ^_^

TREATS!!!!!

Yep, every now and the I enjoy rocking something out that has nothing to do with alcohol....not often! Muhahaha! But, because I am a mom to three cats, two dogs, and two little girls....oh and hell why not....a wife to a wonderful hubby.....I can't ALWAYS throw alcohol into EVERYTHING! Though that could be a lot of fun!

So where have I been? Taking care of said family. Pre-K is right around the corner and we have been busy getting ready for that. As well as raising the sweet little kittens. The two little boys are great with the kids. They act like rag dolls most of the time for my oldest. What a lucky mama I am!

The dogs you ask? Well, my faithful 10 year golden mix, Bubba, is spoiled. As he should be after 10 years of putting up with all of our shenanigans! Then there is our 2 year old boxer/greyhound mix. A sweet hyper active little thing that drives me nuts! We have on different occasions tried to find a home for her. Then said to hell with it. She is with us for a reason and isn't going anywhere! The two faithful watch dogs were due a special treat. So mama got to work on it!

 Treats

1 1/2 cups uncooked rolled oats (old school oatmeal!)
1/2 cup whole grain
1 Tablespoon Dried Parsley
3/4 cup peanut butter
2 large eggs

Preheat oven 300 degrees
Mix everything in a large bowl until you have a lovely crumbly mixture.
Beat the eggs first would by my only suggestion.
Roll the mixture into 1 inch balls
Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Use the bottom of a drinking glass to press them down to a nice thin cookie shape....think Thin Mint Cookies.
Bake 40-60 minutes.
You want them to be a nice golden brown color.
And to have a little bit of a "snap' to them.
They will be more bendable then snappy though.

Another awsome thing about this Treat.....you can give it to the dogs and KIDS!!!!
That will shut the yapping up! Well ....;until they finish the cookies!

For my vegans! Just use an egg substitute!
For those that are gluten free....maybe try making or using a rice flour instead? I'm going to try my hand at that one of these days!

I personally really enjoyed these as well. They were a great healthy munching snack. You know when you get that urge just to chomp on something.....these are great!

Storage: Treat these like you would any homemade cookie. They really won't last as long as a store bought dog treat. Don't keep them in the car either. They could spoil. So if you bring some along for the dogs treat them as you would a cookie for your kids. Keep them in your purse or pocket. Want to make them last longer? Store them in an airtight container in the fridge....maybe on the top shelf. It's always coldest there. But who says they will last long enough to worry about that!

Happy Baking.....and eating!

Chili Ginger Cake with a splash of some Anger!

Oh deliciousness in my mouth with a slight kick! How lucky I am to have thought of you!

1 package of Chili Spiced Mango (from Kroger in the produce section)
1 12oz Bottle Angry Orchard Ginger Apple

1 1/2 sticks REAL butter
3/4 sugar
3/4 light brown sugar

2 large eggs

8oz Beer that soaked the mango!
(Don't haven enough? Open another beer for the rest of the amount! Then enjoy it as you bake!)

1 tsp Lemon Extract or Lemoncello

2 1/2 cups flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp ginger

-Chop up the mango into small pieces.
-Find a bowl that has a lid that will hold all of the mango and the entire bottle of beer.
-Soak for 24 hours. There should be about 8oz of beer left over. Or close enough! When you drain the mango. Keep it!!!! You need it for the cake!

-Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 12-cup Bundt pan with cooking spray and set aside.
(I prefer to butter and flour my pan)
• In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, salt, ginger and allspice. Set aside.

• In a large bowl cream the butter and sugars together.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Make sure to scrap the bowl so the creamed mixture doesn't stick to the bottom of the bowl.
-Add the beer and lemon extract.
-Add the dry ingredients gradually and mix thoroughly.

REMEMBER TO SCRAPE THE BOTTOM!!!!

-Add the mango last and give it a final thorough mixing!

• Pour batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool cake in pan on wire rack for 20 minutes. Invert onto a cake plate. Cool thoroughly.

-I used a pan that has 12 1"x1"x1" squares. Baked at 350 degrees for 20-30min. It just depends on your oven. Same thing goes for cupcakes.
Try making sandwiches from the tops!

This cake will easily fall apart into bite size pieces. It is so moist and full of flavor!

For the Icing....
1 pkg of plain Cream Cheese.
Add 1 Tablespoon of milk at a time until you are able to make it a creamy spreadable texture.
OR
Go the easy route and buy already whipped cream cheese to spread over your cake!

The tops had spread out instead of cooking upwards and I had filled my pan to much. So I had cut off the caramelized tops. I use the crunchiest pieces as cute top decorations. As well as making yummy sandwiches! Nothing went to waste!

cider and cider and BANANAS!

Everyone has been raving about just how great this cider is. Angry Orchard. So I thought I would give it a whirl and see what all the fuss was about. I had a choice of regular or....something new. Ginger! Ginger can be very refreshing and clean tasting. I was super excited about it! Get home, pop the top....and disappointment sets in. The cider itself was great. Smooth, but not crisp like I was expecting. It had a nice over all body. But, at this point the other five are still sitting in my fridge. I see some wonderful beer recipes coming from them though! I'm excited to cook with them!

Now, me being the smart lady that I am, thought to bring home another beer I had hoped we would get in.
Fox Barrel has put out some amazing pear ciders! They have that crispness and the fullness of the flavors they portray! I've had their Apricot Pear which is what has me hooked! A crisp mellow flavor engulfed my taste buds. I drank the four pack that same night! So, when I heard there was a Blackberry! I about fell through the floor! I hadn't realized we had already gotten it in. Someone brought it to the counter and I became super excited! After immediately getting my own four pack and getting home.Popping that top...oh the sweet fresh scent blackberry and that fresh cider smell. It engulfed my senses and sent my smile soaring! From the first sip to the last it was as if I was tasting fresh plump blackberries straight off the vine! Deliciousness in a bottle my dears! I have not a single complaint about this one! Well, maybe except the silly fact it comes as a four pack and not a six!

Wells Banana Bread Beer- "Tempting banoffee aromas tempered by a grassy, lemony nose all leading to a finely balanced, fresh, delicate flavour of peppery hops with a lingering dry finish." -Straight from the horse's mouth. This is not a sweet beer my dears. I couldn't have put it better myself. It is delicious, but not something I'll drink the whole bottle of. I have plans to stick it in the fridge and make banana bread out of it tomorrow! Keep in mind I like the sweet and fruity stuff. This is one of those 50-50 things. You just have to try it and see what you think! It is very well brewed!

Happy drinking!

Barefoot Refresh!

Barefoot has come out with a delightful new wine to add to their collection!
We've had their regular cork wine! We've had their Champagne!
And now we have an in between! It's called Refresh!

So far there are four flavors. From Dry to Sweet!
-Crisp White
-Sweet White
-Summer Red
-Perfectly Pink

One of my favorite things about Refresh flavors is the natural slight bubbly it has! You can see all the exclamation points right? THAT'S BECAUSE I'M THIS EXCITED ABOUT IT!!!!!

It really is the perfect summer wine! It was suggested to try over ice. It was just as delicious if not better. So if you can't find this cold.....pour it over ice when you get home! Worried it will get watered down? I doubt it will last long enough in the glass after the first sip! Mine sure as hell didn't!

The only flavor I haven't tried is the Perfectly Pink. But, I'm sure it is to be just as amazing as the rest!

Crisp White- For all of my Chardonnay drinkers! This is the Refresh for you. It is sweeter then the average chard. At the same time it isn't sugary sweet. Just an ever so slight touch to it! This was the lightest of the flavors. Defiantly my top pick for a hot summer day right after work or with dinner!

Sweet White- Peaches and Apricots. These flavors first jumped out at me! Then there was an underlying citrus flavor. Such a delicate balance of flavors! This was closer to a moscato level of sweetness.

Summer Blend- Flavors of red moscato and sangria run rampant through this bottle! Not overly sweet and yet just sweet enough! The complexity of flavors and layers that lie within are just mouth watering delicious! One of those bottles you just want to leave beside your chair after dinner and keep your glass full of ice and the wine flowing!

Perfectly Pink- I haven't tried this one yet. But, I'm sure it's just as good as the others!

A note about Barefoot's Moscatos

Moscato- (green label)- I really don't care for their plain Moscato. It doesn't carry the smoothness of other moscatos for the same price. Or for just a few bucks more you can get a better quality one. This just didn't impress me one bit. To the point I in general suggest the pink or red moscato.

Pink Moscato- (Pink label)- Now this one is MUCH better! Very happy with how they smoothed out the flavor. The ever so soft flavoring this one has is delicious. Light but with a bit of body at the same time!

Red Moscato- (red Label)- When I tried this moscato, I was floored with how they had hit it right on the head! The balance between flavor and sweetness is perfect. The overall smoothness was impressive! This moscato has a soft full body. I actually prefer it over some of the other more expensive red moscatos I've tried.

Be sure to check out their website for drink recipes and other flavors!

I hope this helped you guys out!
Happy drinking!

Stupid Blogger App!

So I thought that my last two posts had published LASTweek! Nope....I go back and look and there they are just sitting there. Not publishing themseleves! Eeeeeeer!!!! -insert choice words
Here and lots of them!- hehehe

Ok so to make up for this little mistake I will share a really funny story that involves two 4 week old kittens and my oldest child.

My oldest had dissappeared somewhere in the house. She was being way to quiet. Keep in mind my oldest is 4 1/2 years old. It is getting close to time to leave on top of this as well. I go looking for her having a hunch that she has shut herself in with the kittens that we had rescued a few weeks back. As I open the door there she is sitting on the floor with toothbrush in hand. A kitten in the water dish, and she is working on giving them baths. My poor child. All I could see was red and ordered her out of the bathroom.  After drying off the kittens and putting them in their crate. I had to explain to her that they could get sick with how cold that bathroom could become. She was very contrite. The silly goose! But, to say the least she has been banned from playing with the kittens alone in the bathroom now! OH but how she tries to sneak in there!

A few pictures of the kittens for those of you who saw them at Dixie Beverage as I was bottle feeeding them! They have gotten huge since then.Still adorable as ever! Into so much more as well! They have decided that I am their own personal jungle gym. Just as my two girls do! Egad! They do enjoy a good snuggle and it makes all the hard work worth it! Even though it doesn't feel like work.....you know what I mean. A mother's love is never ending and all emcompassing!

I hope you got a joyfull haha out of all of this!

Redd's Apple Ale

FUCKINGfantastic!!!!!!!

Do I need to say more?

Hehehehe. This is actually a really great ale. It blends the best of an Ale with the best of a Cider.  It is heavier then a cider, but not by a  whole lot. The flavor is right on. The fresh taste of apples....the smoothness of a well brewed ale with the supple body. The clean taste of the whole together.....makes me want to pop one open....yep right now at 10:05 am this morning! It's in door 16! Right there! So close and yet so far away.

-sighs-

Looks like I'll just have to buy a six pack later!

Yep, this is my summer favorite! If you like Strongbow then there is a good chance you might like this as well!

Random Thought

So I stopped by Target on my way to work today. Had to grab a few things for lunch! Yum! THen I saw donuts!!!! Me so happy! The archer farm brand donuts to me are comparable to crispy cream! So delicious!

To my dear Leinenkugal lovers! I have some very sad news for you. It breaks my heart to tell you this.....-sniffles- .....but the stupid bastards have discontinued the Berry Weiss Flavor!!! ARRRRGH!!!! I was speechless! My jaw actually dropped when I was told this! I'm going to go and kick some ass I tell you! Eeer!!!!!

To my dear Mike's Hard Lovers! Oh some very sad news for you as well. The Dumb shits have discontinued the Lime flavor! Oh the horror of it all! But, some slightly good news for you. They did replace the flavor with a Blood Orange. For how long you ask? I have no idea!

Good things rarely last for very long. Stupid idiots!

If you were the mike's lover....try out Bud's LIme-a-rita. It actually has a great taste to it and is amazing on the rocks!
To my Leinenkugal lover's....try Wild Rascal Red or Wild Blue! They have an 8% alc/vol and are just as smooth as the berry weiss! They have nailed the raspberry and the blue berry flavors to a T! As well as they don't get overly sweet on you as you guzzle them down!

Cider and Ale lovers unite! Don't forget about the Redd's Apple ale! One of my top favorites at the moment! Perfect for the summer day or with pizza! Did you know that they make it in Albany, Ga? Awsome right!!!! Support your local Brews!

Not looking for something so sweet, but want local as well? I love Red Hare! They have something for most everyone! I hope they bring out a cider soon though! It's made in Marietta, Ga If i remember corrrectly! Which I do! ^_^

Looks up.....Until later tata! I have to look over my notes and add more later!

Drunken Dunc Your Hine Lemon Cake

Yep I do think the title is hilarious!!!! And yes I came up with it all on my own by my little self!
-Laughs my ass off!-
The whole thought process to this cake was really simple. I had bought a 12 pack of Leinenkugal's Lemon Shandy home.....the problem was they were cans. Hubby doesn't like it in the cans. Meh, I say to myself. Thinking I had done something really sweet and thoughtful...it backfires. So now I have over a 6 pack of this stuff just sitting there. Damn it! What to do what to do. Because I like the shandy on tap instead of bottled or canned. Weird right? Yep, I think so to. But, anyways....there they are....what to do what to do. Ah yes! I like to cook and bake! Beer chocolate just didn't appeal to me.....so the next best thing......CAKE!!! Woohoo! It's on like donkey kong I tell you!
..... What's that you say....get on with it? OH my....no need to be like that! Hahahaha! But to get to the point. I didn't want to spend all day in the kitchen and spending a lot of money on ingredients. Lemon cake mix hit me in the face and I finally figured it out!
All I did was substitue the water for beer and baked it.
It was AH-MAZING!!!!!!!
Sprinkled some powered sugar over it and served it warm. I had mine with Vanilla yogurt and thuoght it tasted even BETTER! It was moist but at the same time not moist enough. It was a hit with my guiene pigs....ooops I mean Co-workers! -winks-
Grab your favorite brand of mix and get your bake on!
It's going to make any day beautiful!

update.....

Okie dokie my faithful readers!

You are probably thinking....where the hell did she go!

Where are all those promised posts!

That stupid procrastinator!

Ok.....So this time I have a honest to goodness reason as to why I haven't been posting for the past month.

As some of you know, from coming into the store and seeing with your own eyes, I had resuced a litter of kittens from a situation that could go from bad to worse.
So to nip it in the butt we took a litter of 5, 1-2 week old, kittens into our care. What happened to the mama cat? The situation for the kittens wasn't good. Mama cat was being taken care of. Just to keep it simple and short.

I was bottle feeding all five, but I was able to find homes for three of them rather quickly. We are keeping two little boys for our two girls. They have just fallen in love with them as have the dogs! I have a zoo!

I'm hoping to get a few posts together for you this thursday! Wish me luck! All the babies are keeping me running!

BUT! My faithful readers I haven't forgotten about you!

I have still been cooking up ideas for you!

Woohoo!

Let the blogging now begin!

A few new items coming our way!

Hello to all my faithful readers!

I'm very sorry about missing last week's post! It was Spring Break for my area! Egad people were thirsty! Not That I'm complaining or anything like that! The only problem was is that I missed "talking" to all of you!

I'm here now and rocking out this post for you guys! Just about  a little something we have coming in soon!

Mike's Hard Smashed Apple Cider
5% alc/Vol
16 oz
This for me was a little different then the average mike's.  It had a full soft body and is smooth going down. It's detfinatly not your average Cider. It reminded me more of Apple Juice with a kick. It is on the sweet side. For those non beer drinkers you will fall in Love with this! I still prefer a good Cider any day of the week though!

Mike's Shandy
Hard Lemonade and Lager
4.2% alc/Vol
11.2 oz
Remember that classic Lemonade taste from our childhood? You know, how mama would mix Lemon juice with sugar and water. Yep, that Classic flavor. Mike's has Managed to Capture this within a bottle as well to top it all off..... They use a Smooth tasting Lager. I was happy with the mellowness of this Shady. These days I'm seeing more and more companies rocking out a shandy. The only way only way to find your favorite is to taste a lot them! I must Say that this one will probably be popular with the ladies out ofall the Shanties.

Mike's Frozen Pouches
5 % alc / vol
10 oz
I do happen to be a fan of frozen drinks during the summer! Wait! Who am I kidding! Aren't we all? I am not a fan of Tequila. But, all the same the sweet and sour taste of a Margarita just hits the Spot Sometimes. I've tried Mike's Classic Margarita. There is no tequila in this. Just their perfectly Flavored beer. I Was super happy with this. I look forward to trying their other flavors!

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/easy-bake-cheddar-biscuits-2/detail.aspx

You are probably wondering where my awsome little intro is right? Well sometimes I like to throw you guys for a  little loop! Keep you on your toes so to say! I know I know I'm a pain in the ass! But, I do it so well! Moving onto more important matters such as.....FOOD!!!!!

The recipe is pretty self explanatory so I don't think we really need to go further into that other then the fact this is my FAVORITE EASY biscuit recipe! Thank you Kraft for putting this together! Now you are probably looking at the picture that has strawberries in it and going...

"Dottie...what is THAT suppose to be?!"

What you should be saying is, "What sort of Deliciousness did you come up with this time!?" Lol!!!!

In truth this was great and actually a little on the healthy side. I know right...healthy? No way! The idea of it is simple and easy to make.

Make the dough for the biscuits as stated above without the cheese.
Simply pull the dough out into 9 balls set aside
Pull out a frying pan get it nice and hot!
Flatten out each ball in your hand.
Think of this as making pancakes with a thick batter....or even mud pies!!! Yeess the mud pies from when we were kids! -Pat pat smush smush- until you have a nice flat "cake" in your hand!
Slap it onto the hot frying pan. You want it a light brown on each side. Just like a pancake.
Pull it off and set it on a plate.

Slice up some strawberries....do this before cooking the biscuits.
Put a few on each "cake" drizzle honey over it all and enjoy it!
Best enjoyed hot off the frying pan!

Simplicity is key to good food. If you have to much on any one dish you lose the focus of the dish. Keep this in mind as you play around with this recipe.
-try adding herbs for a savory bread
-chocolate syrup with fruit as well as any other syrup! (Strawberry, caramel)
-different cheeses

Good luck my dears in your cooking/baking adventure!

Interesting But Amazing!

A slice of delight! This idea hit me upside the back of my head! I really don't know where it came from at first. But, once it lodged itself there there was nothing else for me to do....but put my idea into action! I had a few apples that were on the way to death row. So I used those to soak them in RUM!!!!! I actually forgot about them in the back of my fridge you know. Which is why they ended up being soaked for a little over a week! As well as the little well known fact that i'm a lazy ass! Hahahaha!

So finally after making the time to make this cake everyone who has tried it, including myself, have agreed on one thing!

It's INTERESTING, in an amazing way!!!!!

Once you make and try it you will really understand what we all mean by this!
Happy Baking!!!!!

Interesting But Amazing

Peel, slice, and cut into cubes 2 washed decent sized apples.

Grease said paper with butter or spray.
Beat eggs on high for about 5 minutes or really until they are lemon colored and nice and thick!
Gradually beat in the sugar.
Beat in water and vanilla at a slow speed.
Gradually add flour baking powder and salt. (Sift this first!)
Beat it until it is even and smooth!....duh. lol
Pour it into the pan and spread it evenly.
Bake 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick is inserted and pulled out cleanfrom the center of the cake.
Allow to cool.

1 cup powder sugar
4 tbls real butter (stick butter!)
1-2 tbls of apple soaked spice rum
1 tsp cinnamon
Blend together until smooth.

When ready to put everything together!

Smear the filling evenly all over the cake.
Next take those lovely already chopped apples and layer them over the filling evenly!
Carefully pick up the thinnest side of the cake and begin to roll it!
Take your pick as to which way you want to roll! It doesn't matter if you think about it!
Last but not least sprinkle poweder sugar over the rolled cake!
Cut and enjoy!
A super easy treat that really doesn't take long to rock out!

A beautiful Saturday Morning!

Good Morning my dear wonderful readers!

I Have returned in force to blogging to you about all sorts of delicious wonderful things! My wonderful hubby bought my a new tablet which allow me to blog from work.....which I am doing now! It's quite wonderful to be able to think without two little kiddos climbing all over me or trying to help me type! Speaking of them!!!! That is actually what todays entry is about!

I now have two picky eaters. meh. Hahaha! I guess it's what I get for being a picky eater when I was younger! Ah well! Moving on!

One of the things that they will both eat are PANCAKES!!!

Makes my life super easy. I did think to myself that eating them the same way can be rather boring. As did my hubbs! So we have been trying new flavors and different brands. A few simple ideas!

Plain pancake mix.
1. caramel syrup
2. fruit added into the actual batter
3.powdered sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top
4. use liquer instead of milk or water...such as bailey's or fulton's pumpkin pie
5. different flavored coffee creamers instead of milk or water.
6. pour some Crown Maple whiskey over them!!!!!
7. chocolate chips in the batter!

Don't be scared to try new flavors! Blueberry, Apple Oatmeal, Plain and whatever else you might find out there! Life is an adventure! Take it by the reins and go gun ho with it!

Valentine's weekend

It's late, but it's here! As in the ass end of Valentine's Weekend!

Well, really really late! Egad have I mentioned before what a bad awful blogger I am! As well on top of that the best kind of procrastinator there is? My mom tried fixing me of that little habit in high school....yep...that didn't happen...as you can see!

-laughs loudly and heartedly!-

Moving on to a really awsome recipe all the same!

It is still Valentine's weekend. Well the ass end as I've mentioned before! Many of you will actually be celebrating/breaking up/making up and creating so much drama that I need a trash can to puke in! So, here is a great stress reliever/pity party/make-up activity/family time recipe!

When I went to college my mom gave me an awsome cook book! It's the paper back version of Betty Crocker! This book has recipe upon amazing recipe in it! I love to tweek them and create lots of delicious stuff! There is this once cookie recipe all the same though...that doesn't need a damn thing done to it! It has a great almondy flavor to it. Only THREE ingredients! Goes perfect with coffee or tea! As well as being customize-able for kid size snacks!

What is this AH-MAZING recipe you ask....just spit it out damn it you say....fine then be that way! I'll just tell you!

Scotch Shortbread Cookies
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup real butter (this is where that delicious almond flavor comes from!)
2 cups all purpose flour

Preheat the oven to 350

It will be easier if the butter is at room temperture for this next part.
Sift the flour and sugar into a large bowl.
Cut sticks of butter into mid sized cubes.
Cut the butter into the flour mixture until it is a crumbly mixture.
Use your hands and smush and squish it all together making sure all the flour is mixed in!
Roll out the dough into a about a foot long roll and cut 24ish 1/2 inch cookies.
grease a cookie sheet and place them on there with a little bit of space in between them.
cook for 20 minutes. you want them to have a very light brown tint to them.

let them cool and gobble them up!

When I use the term "cut" referring to earlier...

Use a food processor and pulse the mixture
Use two knives and literally cut the butter into the flour
Use a pastry blender .

You want the mixture in the end to be crumbly! I prefer to use a pastry blender!

Pastry Blender on Amazon!

You can also roll this dough out on a floured surface and use cookie cookie cutters!
Add food coloring to make colored cookies.
Add chocolate as well on top!
A very versatile recipe my dears! So have fun and rock this recipe out!!!

For my VEGANS out there! Just add your favorite butter substitution instead!

 Happy Baking!

a sneak peek and a thought.

So the other day I finally tried a Mike's Harder Lemonade. I'm not much of a fan of the Mike's in the first place. I prefer the smoother flavor of a Smirnoff. But, the blackcherry Mike's is pretty good...not sure about the harder one though. Anyways, moving on...

The Mike's harder Lemonade is pretty good. I could tell there was a stronger kick to it. Not in a bad way though. Which surprised me. It actually has a mellower taste to it opposed to the regular Mike's lemonade. Great Flavor. Not to sweet. Which is something I could really appreciate. This lovely four pack is great for guys or gals! So pick one up and give it a whirl!

The sneaky peeky!!!!

As you all Know Valentine's day is right around the corner! I have some evil plans in the works! Muhahahahaha.......<_< umm yea...that is SUPPOSE to be my evil laughter. Shall I try it again?

MUHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAHA...cough couch...Ha....cough...fuck it.

*_- hehehe winky face!

I'm very excited about this all though. I've got strawberries. Almonds. Chocolate. Alcohol.. Thinking about a delicious champagne! And so one! I'll have it soon though. This way you guys will have time to practice!

Ladies....don't just wait for the guys to approach you. Take this opportunity to confess to that one you like. Or to re-confess to the one you are already in a relationship! Don't just leave it up to the guys ladies!
After being shot down so many times they may not have the courage to approach you or anyone! so take a deep breath and begin putting a plan together!

Take life by the bullocks and make it do what you want it to!

new year's resolutions

yep yep yep! It's the new year everyone! hooray!

WELCOME 2013!!!!

I love the number 13! Why? Well, I've never had a bad friday the 13th! It reminds me of my wonderful pain in the ass hubby who I love with all my heart! As well as the fact it's a number that just pops out at you and grabs your attention.....Like I do!!!

So are you wondering what my New Year's resolutions are?
Maybe to lose weight and get healthy?
Cut back on sugar?
Exercise?

Umm...fuck that shit.

Sure, I need to lose a good bit of weight just to become healthy.
Yep, I've cut back a bit on my sugar intake.
Exercise, that's what I have two brats for! hehehe.

Come on people! You don't need the new year to work on some basic human needs. Let's be more creative then that! Such as!!!!

More blog posts! More creative yummy easy dishes! A few more more intricate recipes!
Yep, all that great stuff. But, this year I would love to try to write a book. And no not a foodie book. What I want to write about.... you'll just have to come in and ask me about! I'll be more then happy to tell you about it.
As well as reinventing my home. Adding more color, new ideas, and lots of love smeared with creativity!

Moving on!

Last year I was rather lax in posting on coffee and such. I did try new ones....umm...I just forgot to make sure I posted it here like a dumb ass! What's the point of having a blog if I don't post on what I try!
So instead of visiting the past...let's move forward!

For Christmas my mother in law had gotten me a Keurig!
If you don't have one of these awsome things.....it is so well worth it! But, whatever you do don't get rid of your regular coffee pot! The K-cups are great! But, not for a heavy coffee drinker! Just keep in mind it brews on the strong side. So either add some hot water or creamer if it is to strong for you! As well as just getting a lighter roast next time!

Like tea? This is PERFECT for hot tea!!!!!!!!

http://www.keurig.com/
What I've been using for my loose leaf tea!

I have fallen in love with this whole set up! Every time I use this super easy machine I have to smile! The variety is just astounding! One of the things I think is fun is how easy it is to share the cups! Buy one box and someone else can buy another and then you can split it between the two of you! There is hot chocolate and hot apple cider for my kids which is a lot of fun. I've actually bought mugs for my kiddos so they can use this as well! The coffee variety oh me oh my the deliciousness of it all!

Hot tea drinkers don't despair! The variety for us is just as fabulous as for us coffee drinkers! One of my favorite things is how strong it brews! Don't like it so strong? No worries! I have a great solution for you.

Now, I keep a selection of hot tea at home. Because I drink my coffee at work and my tea at home. It's easier to re-heat the tea with honey in it, opposed to coffee with creamer in it.

My thoughtful mother in law also gave me a red solofill cup for my machine for Christmas as well. Which is so fantastic! I had bought a box of tazo's awake k-cups....it's amazing by the way!......and thought it was great. But, I wanted something a little softer for at night. I went back to look at the other options...there weren't as many. Which is fine and dandy. Cause, the Tazo teabags were on sale for $2!!!! that is 20 bags per a box. Or in other words, 10 cups of tea.

I bought four boxes to try out a few varieties. Instead of leaving the tea in the bags I cut them open and dumped two tea bags directly into the solocup. How did I decide on two bags? Well, I amputated the k-cup after using it and figured out about how much they used. At first I used three bags....nice and strong...but almost to strong. Then I reduced it to my normal two teabags. Super happy!!!!

What is so great is that in three minutes.....you get perfect strength tea without having to wait for it to steep and get cold! I am able to drink more tea at home with ease now! the waiting is what always killed me! I'm not always a patient person.

3 tea bags= strong tea
2 tea bags= medium tea
1 tea bag= weak tea

Be sure to remember to tear/cut open the bags and pour them into the solofill! What a difference the taste is with loose leaf teas opposed to them sitting in a bag!

Now I have to retry all of them before I report back! But, just know I am a happy camper and I'm starting my year off right!

Starting it off Absolutely AH-MAZING!!!!!

Dottie ^_^
